Hello Everyone,

A month has passed since my last blog entry and there have been many interesting things going on here at Clickapost.com.  We are in the process of putting the finishing touches on our API that allows other companies to interface with us and makes it easier for them to post they’re items in bulk on Clickapost.com.  We have a lot companies waiting for the API to be complete so they can start using it to POST tons to cool things on Clickapost.com for our users to see and use such as recruiting sites, real estate sites, and many other types of companies that sell items online and are looking forward to utilizing our FREE API to syndicate their information on Clickapost.  This means more posts for our users, which is a great thing.  As you know, we are still in BETA, and this is just one of the many ways we are planning to satisfy our users and give them the quality experience they expect from Clickapost.com.

There are some very cool features slated for release right after the API is finished.  You can expect to see some design changes to Clickapost.com.  As part of the Beta process, Clickapost.com will be getting a bit of a face lift.  We are working on the front, category page as well as the POST details page and have high expectation for the outcomes.  We are moving towards increasing the visibility of Videos and increasing the user experience all at the same time.  We also have some very cool “SOCIAL” features coming soon.  Some of them include adding a friends list so users can add and make new friends and contacts, a wall that friends can leave messages on, and much more!

We are all looking forward to the NEW Features in the coming weeks as Clickapost.com continues to prepare for our “OFFICIAL LAUNCH”.  We will continue to listen to our users and give you the kind of SOCIAL and VIDEO based “ONLINE CLASSIFIEDS” you deserve.  If any of you have feedback and would like to share your comments with us here at Clickapost.com, please send us an email at: info@clickapost.com.  I read ALL email from our users and take all of your opinions into consideration when making decisions about features and changes.

Hello Everyone,

I would like to thank all of the Clickapost Community for joining us and having faith in our project. Our Community of users is growing rapidly. We are breaking new records every day! Since we went live in June 08′ we have exceeded our expectation for the Beta site. In July we had more than 500 unique visitors on Clickpost.com. That record was broken a month later when we had over 1,000 unique visitors that month. Recently, we’ve seen our largest numbers yet. In September, Clickapost had about 4,000 unique visitors in one DAY and over 12,000 unique for the month. It’s been a great opportunity to get feedback from the public and a good opportunity to see what the users are interested in. We have taken that feedback and made updates accordingly and will continue to base our updates on our community’s feedback. Please feel free to leave feedback here on the Blog as well!

Clickapost has made some big strides in the Real Estate Market. Real Estate Companies are starting to realize the value of Video and Online Classifieds sites and how Clickapost.com relates to both. For the Real Estates companies that wish to Syndicate listing from they’re Corporate website on to Clickapost.com, this is now possible. Another focus for Clickapost is the Recruiting/Job Market. Clickapost is moving towards having a major impact in the job market. We are aiming at having Thousands of Job openings online by 2009.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to remember that Clickapost.com is still in BETA and has not yet officially launched. The site just went LIVE in June and has had a GREAT public response. ClickaPost system has been updated and it brings some fairly cool and much needed features. Most of them increase the system’s functionality and help you get more information when you need it.

Here’s the list…

On the front page you will notice we made the videos playlist higher so more featured videos can be seen right away.

New Post button in the top menu has been replaced with a link to our Blog, and on the right side of the search bar we added a lot more noticeable and prettier “Post Now” button.

On all featured post listings which are usually located on the left and right sidebar, we now display a category in which the post is published which when clicked takes users to the list of all posts in that category. This is mostly useful for the front page and searches where category is not defined - which in turn yields featured posts from multiple categories.

On System preferences under MyClickaPost module we added a setting where people can choose if they want to be notified of all comments on their own posts. One global setting controls all emails users receive when comments are made on their own posts.

We added ability for users to subscribe to post comments. When leaving a comment, checking the box will subscribe you to any subsequent comments sent to this post.

To unsubscribe, simply leave another comment and un-check the box, OR, go to a new section under MyClickapost called Post subscriptions from where you may manage all of the posts which send you notifications.
In the first screen-shot at the very top, you may have noticed the new “Advanced Search” option. Next to a search button you will notice a little “advanced” link at the top which when clicked will reveal the advanced search settings just underneath the search bar. From here you may now choose Post Category, media settings (do you wish to see only posts with photos and/or videos included), and price settings (you can now enter min and max price in order to narrow down the listings).

The same “advanced” search options have been added to the Search Genie when searching/listing all posts - and can be accessed from there too :).

1. An issue with posting long text into forum posts/topics is now solved.
2. Cancel button added for the New Message in Messages module.
3. Pretty HTML editor (the one we use for posts) has been added to Messages module, Message sending parts of Post details and Post listings modules, and to the Forum (for topics, posts, as well as personal messages forms).
4. Trimming down the description to 200 characters was OK while the posts were just plain text. When we switched to pretty editor and HTML - it became a lot harder to cleanly cut the HTML and close all open tags. This has been taken care of.
5. Social Bookmarks button is now more colorful and clear so everyone can know what it is for. It now shows icons instead of text, namely: Favorites (typical star icon), Digg, Stumble Upon, FaceBook and Delicious.
6. In case a featured post gets expired by the user - the Featured Posts and Featured Videos database will also be updated and the featurette will be expired as well. Same goes if the featured post is extended - the Featured Post data and Featured Videos of that post will also be extended.
7. Fixed issue where paste dialog shows up in HTML editor when pressing CTRL-V. Now you paste as you should.
8. Fixed issue with the logged-in user’s bar at the top of the page going out of bounds in IE7 when maximized at high resolution. (I really dislike IE, to put it mildly).
9. Fixed all table headings to be same (dark candy background) as forum. Check out the pretty colors now:
10. Category Specific background colors are now being displayed when you select different categories.
11. Fixed issue Derek and Joel reported where when submitting the New Post form users get returned with no error - and only under Keywords in step 1 it shows: FAILED. Thanks guys!
12. Fixed an issue Derek reported: Not being able to submit a comment on IE6.
13. When people come with a smaller resolution which cannot display all categories in the menu at the top (or when the browser window is re-sized and made too narrow), the system now automatically puts a new link called All Categories in the menu so people who cannot see the whole list can access all categories from here.
    
14. When a search is performed from New Post module - the results now open up in a new page. This way if a user has already started a new post - it will not be lost.
15. Fixed issue in IE6 and IE7 where Front Page subcategories would wrap around and make some of the boxes double height. Now they are all same height.
16. Profile data and system settings have been separated so they make sense now. Profile data, user’s name, etc. is under My Profile, and system settings are in System Preferences.
17. Number of Posts per page is default to 10 for not logged in users, and logged in users can change it now in their System Preferences under MyClickapost module to something else.
18. Updated the page which is shown to all users while the system update is in progress. I know you all hated that white page with “System is being updated message”, so I made it really pretty. You can see a preview at: http://clickapost.com/update/

Besides some other internal stuff you really do not want to be bothered with - that’s it.
